WEVO Shifter
I have an 82SC with a stock transmition. I am curious about the WEVO short throw shifter. I have read many good reviews about how it improves the feel of the and accuracy of the shift. The question I need answered is: How will it feel to me? Where can I "try out" one of these? I live in the Puget Sound area, specifically Tacoma. Any Pelicans nearby willing to show off you WEVO set up?

You will want to change your shifter bushing and either change the shift coupler bushing, or get the WEVO one. No need to try one out. They are the cat's meow. Just buy one.

They will not compensate for a bad trans or old bushings.....but they IS the schizzle.

Though it's not quite the same as your trans, it made my G50 even more precise. If I had a car with a 915, I'd definitely get one...
My G50 version transformed my (previously pretty good) shifting action into a mechanically fluid action likened to a rifle bolt throw. It's something you interact with every time you drive your car.

WEVO shifter
I've had 2 of them-930 and 915. They are the real deal, as the others say, max benefit with new coupler bushings. They work great and look totally kool.

I fitted one last year and it's the nuts!
One thing that might be worth a try just for your own interests is to change all the coupling bushings etc and replace the standard shifter. See how she shifts with new bushings and then if you are still curious get the Wevo. As mentioned above, a Wevo won't make a tired gearbox feel any better, so definitely do those bushings too.

I'd let you try out mine... but the car is apart at the moment.
Post in the PNW regional forum and you might get some offers.

The PSJ stands for "Performance Shift Joint" Wevo's replacement shift coupler for the 911.

Is Wevo shifter significantly better than factory short shift???
Shortly after I got the car home, I found the shifter bushings toast and while I was in there I installed the factory short shifter. It is miles better than a bushingless stock set up, but still feels a bit notchy and noticeably higher effort.
To be honest, I have a new shift coupler, but haven't installed it yet. I also have "sport hardness" tranny and engine mounts, but not yet on. I am trying to do maintenance up a notch to "sport" specs. Thanks, chris p.s. On a similar subject, we talk about nuts and bolts and stuff and if someone said, "I just blew a tranny", our first thought would be sorry dude, that's gonna be expensive, Others, perhaps a bit less mechanically inclined, might put a more lurid spin on it :-) Just sayin..... chris |

HA LOL That seals the deal.
![]() My WEVO vintage short throw and PSJ transformed the shifting and feel of my car. Well worth the money.

The Wevo feels a bit more precise, thanks to the second centering spring. You can also replace the springs to change the centering force to your taste. The longer lever technically means it takes less effort on your part to get it in to gear, but this really has no effect on how quickly you can shift a 915. You shouldn't be forcing it.
Once adjusted properly, the Wevo reverse lockout works very well, though frankly I never had a problem with the factory lockout. One thing I particularly like about mine is the longer lever. I am fairly tall, and the long lever reduces the distance I have to reach, thus I can sit back a bit further. I never cared for the factory shifter placement. I actually made some taller knobs for the Wevo to get the shifter up even closer to the wheel. Bottom line: It's a great upgrade, but it won't make your car shift better.
