I for one would not would not use my car as a "chick magnet". We should have more respect for the fairer sex....Well Gee Wizz guys...I can honestly say that if a hot chick came up to me and said "could you please take me for a itty bitty widdle ride in your cute little Pooorsh?" I would say " No maam..I respect you too much for that. This machine seat is was conceived and thus designed by the Gods from above strictly for excercising the deamon of speed from the soul, and if placed in the hands of the wrong person...indeed an unprepared person, ...untold, unspeakable passions could be aroused......and maam, I just wouldnt feel right where that to happen. PLEASE MAAM..... TURN AWAY NOW..AND DONT LOOK BACK...JUST WALK AWAY BEFORE IT OVERPOWERS YOU!!"

Ok.... maybe I should have stopped at my 3rd cup of coffee

I dunno. They told me when I got my Harley that I'll immediately attract "bitc*es" (I'm not sexsist, just using proper Harley talk), but I found more guys talking to me than gals. And when I got the Jeep Wrangler, they said girls absolutely love em. But nadda. Then I bought the big gun, my 911. And I must admit that a number of ladies have told me that my car is "cute", but they were talking about the car, not me. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? CUTE? I think its AWSOME! I refuse to date a girl that thinks my awsome car is cute. Next thing you know, she might think that parts of my body which I consider awsome, are "cute".

Besides, I'm one of those unusual married guys who thinks there's no better lady out there than his wife.
:)

well, it's been good replies to this subject.. and the results, IMO, is that they may be attracted to the basic strength of a 911. kinda like cave man action.. and if they don't relate to that stuff, who cares/who needs 'em.. like they want to get "basic" again.. like to the days before they were allowed to wear shoes.. gotta love that attitude.. and make love to it..........Ron

Ya know, I've heard that some girls would avoid a guy with a Porsche, because he must be self-centered and would probably care more about his car than about any woman. Who, me?? Go figure. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/sad2.gif

well, not being specific to you.. but I noticed that you have a red 911.. and you wrote to "go figure" .. so I did "go figure" a little bit and there is a profile on guys with red sports cars, acording to the shrinks.. don't remember what it is, go figure, LOL

Cars don't attract girls-the driver does! Ask any woman on the street if the driver is unattractive it doesn't matter what he drives. Ever see that weird Sci-fi pic call the Other where an alien who favors Ferrari's stole one and tried to pick up Beverly Hills girls and got the brush off because the alien was in an old hospitalized man's body?

Well depends where you live..if you're in Los Angeles and you drive a Diablo or a 360 Modena, something really exotic, you will get laid ( if you can't you have some serious problems!)
Women out here are like "walking Kelly Blue Books"...one look at the a car like that, and they know how much cash you have and the lifestyle you live. With a 911 it's much harder I think, there are so many of them out here it's amazing, I think guys and teenagers notice them more than women. If women do notice the car, I agree that usually think it's "cute" (how lame is that??). Some women think the car is "sexy"..now that's when you might have a chance in hooking up!!

I live in a small town, Porsches come through here about as often as Haleys Comet. The other day I was washing the Benz and as I was pulling out I looked to the left and here comes a parade Texas PCA P cars storming into town fresh from their Eureka Springs (Arkansas) get together. I laughed my ass off at the reaction of everybody in town. You would have thought it was a presidential caravan or funeral cause ppl were pullin off to the side of the road to watch as they drove through.

johncj8989 01-10-2003 08:49 AM

As to the reaction I get driving my 911 in this little town....well lets just say it isnt possitive. People look at me as though I am a gangster or mafia figure or some sort of porn movie producer. " Well look at him...I bet he thinks he's something special in his little sports car" kinda reaction. It's ok...I handle myself with pride and dignity, after all.... I know they are just pissed cause they arent me!:D

wit61 01-10-2003 09:02 AM

I purchase my cars for ME, and prefer stealth to "look at me" tactics. However, IMHO women are attracted more to the fact that the Porsche (or some other exotic marque) indicates a financial status (rightly or wrongly)....

There are worse circumstances in which to be guilty by association...

Did you know that a 100 lb. blonde in your passenger seat is the horsepower equivalent of roughly -10! Not to mention that if your car is corner-balanced it'll throw your handling off tremendously. Personally, I never let the gals know I have one because of what it might do to my lap times.

johncj8989 01-10-2003 09:34 AM

Yeah you may lose something in terms of performance, but the added adrenalin rush that a hot 100 lb blonde would induce would more than make up for any loss of power.

9XI 01-10-2003 09:43 AM

The only way that enters my mind is that some other people have that opinion of Porsches. It bugs me. I'd rather they leave me alone and don't form ANY judgments based on what I drive. I drive a Porsche because I love the performance, the beauty, the heritage and the fantastic engineering. Nothing else.

Interesting.. lap times are usually about 2+ min. and $20. If they think they may get a ride, your LAP time may be much longer :D

I won't date strippers any more .... honest ;)

Here in metro Atlanta, those lap things only cost $10. Well, uh - that's what I've been told....

johncj8989 01-10-2003 09:52 AM

$20 plus court costs here.

Divorce court.

I've gotten some looks, but never a date or anything further because of the car. My last girlfriend liked the car, and the current one thinks it's 'too loud.' Go figure. If I could get girls by driving down the street, I'd be all for it. My only problem is that my two main haunts are NYC (don't drive it in the city) and the east end of long island, where it's a little fish in a VERY big pond. (Read: parked next to an Aston Martin Vanquish or a Ferrari 550, my little ol' porsha don't look so hot)

As for its effect on women, I've found that the best reaction is when they find out on their own, after they've met you and you've been talking/dating a while: "What do I drive? Oh, just an old Porsche...." Then you come off as humble as well. Or so I've heard...

Everyone on this board has most likely bought their P car because we love the mechanicals, and all thats involved with it. (fun factor), But the majority of the public drives them for the "cool/expensive/get chicks/ factor.

johnnyo200 01-10-2003 12:16 PM

Last couple girls I've dated have told me that "you not so bad for a guy that drives a red Porsche." But that was after I showed them what the Targa Bar is ACTUALLY used for.

One of my other cars is a VW thing. Driving a camoflaged Thing with the windshield folded forward in downtown has gotten me more whistles and thumbs-up, (yes from women) than the P, but if I want to pull all the stops. I drive the '64 Caddy limo with leopard print fake fur interior. (no lie).

johnnyo200 01-10-2003 12:32 PM

Oh, by the way I did buy the car for all the other reasons listed above. My dad really got me into them. I actually started with a 924 (with four more gradually acquired through family and friends, including a 80 Turbo) when I was 17. It was my stepping stone, then a 73 2.0 914 that I completely restored, then my current 911 whiched I've owned for the last 11 years.
