This is the 4th Porsche I have built....but the first one I get to keep.
I think the lirics "Listen to the Music Playing in you Head" is what it's all about.
Cruising down the highway... sun shining...motor making wonderful noise...smile a yard wide on my face....yup...heaven on earth.
My grandfather once told me "Always go first class, you will never be disappointed" ...and here I am...going very first class.

But the majority of the public drives them for the "cool/expensive/get chicks/ factor.

You mean there is another "majority" Porsche owner that we don't know about that's not on this board?

What if they think you will take care of them fiscally.....

I met my GF well I owned an '02 Mustang GT Conv (That she hated), I got rid of that POS (leaked water and ford couldn't fix it). I know have a 911 (thats incredible) that she thinks is cute - but she always wants a ride.

As a side note she is also allowed to drive it whenever she wants (although she hasn't yet). Her 180K mile corrolla with the orginal clutch proves to me she can drive a stick.

Trust me, we diehards are the minority.

NOBODY gets more tail because of their ride than my friend who has a Ferrari Mondial. Red, convertable, Ferrari... instant panty drop!

Hello...

Play the game right here in the San Francisco Bay Area and tail aint too much of a problem. Especially if you own a Porsche.

ps: Funny how all the non-owners refer to the car as a Poorsh.

I personally think women look very nice next to Porsches! ;)

I'm an automotive junkie, buying a P-car was simply a progression of this condition. On the other hand I did buy this one from my brother largely because of it's looks and not so much it's performance (I bought it with a 2.0) I had decided I had grown up enough and that I wanted to appear to be as sucessful as I truly am at my job (I'm a huge fan of the total beater/smoke yer arse type cars) Driving old worn out 460 powered trucks or drag Mustangs didn't fit with the professional image I wanted to present so I was looking at SVT Tauruses of all things when my brother (knowing my performance passion) offered me his old P-car. I thought to myself OK here's a perfect compromise, it's a presentable car yet still retains the performance and styling that appeals to me and I'd been a 911 fan for years, I bought it without question for his asking price. Then the inevitable (for me) happened, rather than fix the minor cosmetic issues the car had I predictably started to improve the performance to the point that I installed a 3.0 in it. Plans to touch up the paint and clean up the interior this winter have been sidelined while I contemplate my next major upgrade a Euro 915 with a limited slip an 7:32 gears. I guess I'll never change LOL.

It is a chick magnet though even in it's slighty rough condition but I like to think that's the driver! besides I'm happily married anyway. :)

words to live by :D

i was giving a girlfriend a "spirited" drive in my 911 because she wanted to see what it could do, afterwards when she "settled down" (she is a girl after all) she explained she had no idea what she was getting herself into by having me show her............... then she asked where the cupholder was.

I go to college in a college town. When I am not stuck with a girlfriend, I enjoy chasing after and dating girls.

Maybe it's the part of the country I live in or the girls that I tend to date, but girls seem to like guys who drive newer SUVs and full size pick-ups.

Don't get me wrong, girls still think my car is "cute" but they are more impressed when a guy drives a new truck, with power everything, leather/heated seats.....macho stuff. An aging sports car with no power steering, no power locks, a stiff suspension and with difficult ingress/egress isn't all that impressive to girls around here. Even if the car in question is in really good shape.

Now all my buddys drive trucks and SUVs. They along with some of the guys I work with love my 944. They're impressed with performance aspects, build quality (for a 20 yr old car) and styling.....pretty much the same reasons why most of us like our cars.

I guess my point is, I couldn't imagine a girl liking me because of my car.

That is not to say I wish it couldn't happen once or twice. ;)

And How 'Bout Gals Who Drive 911s?

In general, people don't pay much attention to my 911. Half the attention is mildly negative, like when pedestrians in the crosswalk sneer down at my ostentatious, self-centered, gas-guzzling, killing-the-earth sports car (here in the SF Bay Area, I'd be more popular in an electric car). Of the limited positive attention the car attractts, almost all of it comes from guys and young boys. On the infrequent occasions that I drive it around the university the young coeds pretty much ignore it.

My wife likes the car as a tolerable hobby / toy, but doesn't really like riding in it - noisy, cramped, etc. She wanted me to get the BMW 750iL.

Side note: very infrequently, I see a woman driving a 911. Infrequent as in maybe three times in the past year. I get an immediate rush and am convinced she is the hottest thing I've seen all day. The one time the female driver actually waved at me - or maybe she just lifted a finger off the steering wheel, I'm not sure - woo boy. I think an interesting subject might be what guys think of women who drive 911s.

jyl 01-13-2003 07:11 PM

Bad news, boys, my wife informs me that women often find Porsches attractive but do not thereby find the men who drive them attractive, except that they infer the men have money, which she admitted can be attractive . . . but they also think the men may well be snobs. Oh well.
