Installing Targa emblem with roll bar in place

The title pretty much says it all. I want to reinstall my Targa emblem but the outer cover is still installed.

How do you recommend installing the emblems without removing the outer cover?

Thanks

There are speed nuts on the inside if I remember correctly. Like the nuts that hold the hood logo.

I don't think it's possible without destroying old script and gluing new.

Somehow I was able to remove the emblems without destroying anything. Now I have the emblems (without speed nuts) in good shape and the Targa bar undamaged

The emblems fit back in the original mounting holes well, they fit snugly, but require some additional retention. I was considering drops of glue on the underside of the emblem with glue in the holes the posts go into.

Of course the speed nuts would be the way to go, but who wants to disassemble the targa bar?

I considered the later Targa adhesive emblem used on the deck lid but that is too big. Do more current Targas have the adhesive strip emblems on the side? That could be a way to go.

What's holding you back from removing the bar? Is it that you don't want to have to replace your real seal? It might be possible to remove the bar without destroying your rear seal, if you carefully knife the seal from the lower flange of the bar. Getting at the screws will be tricky, but it may be doable. However, if your seal is old, then why not just pull the bar? It's not hard. I just refinished mt bar and replaced the seal with the Uro part sold here (much less $ than factory), it fit perfectly and I have a tighter, quieter seal now.

Yes

Rear seal is in good shape, don't want to risk creating more work for myself by merely applying two emblems.

I am trying to track down the part number of the adhesive side Targa emblems as used in newer Targas. Cannot find the part # from our host.

If you use the adhesive backed emblems (assuming you can get them) you will still have to deal with the holes in the targa bar..
Loctite makes an "extreme conditions" adhesive available at most major retail outlets , one drop goes a long way..do NOT use "super glue"

PM me if you need more info

I used double sided tape to attach mine over the speed nut holes. No issues. It takes time to meticulously cut the tape, but a pen knife works well.

You can buy rolls of emblem tape at most FLAPS. I just saw it at a local O'Reilys the other day. It is likely a 3M very high bond (VHB) double sided. That should do the trick.

Hold out to find some of the tape that is double sided bur really thin.

I like the glue idea. The 3M stuff. It will sit flat.
