Hi All,
Have a CIS issue, but first I have to know the year and spec of my engine (not original to my '77 Euro SC): 930.106.102.OR *6290943* Any takers? Cheers.

Mixed engine component/s.........

Easy Tiger, Yes. You have a '79 SC USA engine with a ('81 ~ '83) 245-mm alternator fan and housing. What is the number on your WUR? -045, -069 , or -089? How about your fuel distributor? Keep us posted. Thanks. Tony |

Ok, my distributor number is: 0 237 304 016
Is this a problem? Also, what would be the correct WUR model for this engine?

Mixed match CIS components.......
Quote:
ET, You have the wrong ignition distributor for your engine. Could you check the ID numbers for the fuel distributor, AAR, etc. Does the engine have a decel valve? And take a picture of the engine for visual test. Use a pressure gauge to check your WUR's fuel pressure delivery. Tony |

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the direction, I'll try and get a list of the CIS components and check compatibility.

The Plot Thickens...
Hi All,
Thanks to the Pelican community I have learned some important things about my car, specifically the engine. Here's my update: Body: 1977 Porsche 911 3.0 SC Euro Model Engine: 1979 SC 3.0 USA Spec Engine Ignition Distributor: 0 237 304 016 (should be 0 237 306 016) WUR: 0 438 140 089 (matching?) CDI: 0 227 300 004 (matching?) I'll poke around the engine and see if I can get the numbers for the Fuel distributor and Auxiliary Air Regulator (AAR)

Since there was no 1977 SC, you might post your chassis number to see if you have a '77 911, '77 Carrera 3.0, or 1978 SC.

It's my understanding that there was a German '77 SC, which is mine. 2.7 Case with bigger headers.

Nope. They got the SC in 1978, just like we did. Post you chassis number and I'll tell you what it is.

What is your VIN?
If it is 911720xxxx - you have a 77 911 US coupe that came with a 2.7. If it is 911730xxxx - you have a 77 911 Japan coupe with a 2.7. If it is 911760xxxx - you have a 77 911 Carrera coupe that would have came with a 3.0 engine. If it is 911820xxxx - you have a 78 911SC US coupe that came with a 3.0 engine. If it is 911830xxxx - you have a 78 911SC ROW / Japan coupe with a 3.0 engine.

Mystery Engine
My '78 SC was actually built and delivered in mid '77, but it's one of the first SCs built. Maybe he's looking at a build date.

In some markets, a car gets titled according to the date of production, or the date of first sale. That may be what is at issue here.
Thee are quite a few differences between a '77 911 and a 911SC, so he might as well figure out what he has. I suspect it's a ROW '77 911, but who knows? JR |

What is interesting is that the tach that is in his car is not from a 2.7 911 but from a Carrera 3.0...
