Misterious Early 930 Whale Tail lid seal

Hi Pelicans

My '75 deck lid is missing the seal marked with red arrow on the picture attached.
Does anyone know the P/N? Can't find it anywhere.
Maybe if not original there are some reproductions?

Thank You in advance for any hints

I'm not sure that my 76 has that seal either. I wonder if the seal was very early production only?

Unlikely,

Seen several lid spoilers with that seal including Carrera 3.0
It was definitely used thru 1977 in both Turbo and Carrera 3.0 cars
Here is another example

Without that seal metal frame tends to crack and separate from GRP top in the bottom lip area

Bruce,

The fact Your car doesn't have it proves it's missing rather than that it doesn't exist.
Here is another photo of factory new condition 1977 930
Seal clearly visible

You're absolutely right
If it did I wouldn't ask here.
I am also trying to locate these rubber stops from the picture.
No luck in PET either

I have the rubber stops on my Carrera 3.0 but I've never seen that seal, either.

No, they don't have a part number on them and I've never found it in PET. You might try finiding a dealer or shop that has some of the original paper parts manuals and see if they have a part number in them.

I don't recall seeing that seal on my '75 Turbo tail before I packed it up.

Don't know if they ALL had them but most did. It's more of a tape than a seal and not really sure of it's purpose. I've used electrical tape before to replicate it.

I agree with Bob - the one I saw was more like tape than a rubber seal. I suspect that may have been used to conceal the inevitable minor separation cracks between tail and base but that's a guess.

The rubber stops have been NLA for some time but have been repro'd by Tom Deg who is a member here. Here's his thread.

Also available from Dr. Georg Kondrashein at rsr.at

Konradsheim has the stops as well as "spritzdüsen" for headlights:

Thanks for all the good hints. Finally something moved in this not easy topic.

I already have the "spritzdüsen" from rsr.at for some time now.
Not sure how I missed the fact they also have the repro of the rubber stops.
Anyway rubber stops problem solved, parts have been ordered.

Now back to the rubber seal. It's main purpose is to absorb vibrations and thus protect the grp spoiler against splitting from metal frame.
When I was looking for the correct and original 1975 rear spoiler I realized 99% are missing the seal and similar percentage is suffering from cracks between two different materials each having different flexibility
I don't think using electrical tape will sort out the cracking problem.

if someone has that seal on his spoiler could You please stand out of the crowd and help with dimensions which would help me to reproduce it?
Early spoilers are getting impossible to find and reach crazy prices so my goal is to protect it the best possible way and also bring it back to as original as possible.

Marcin

Like I said, the "seal" is nothing more than a piece of tape.
