Porsche Crest Just Brought Home - 87 Guards Red 911

Hello Everyone!

So I just joined the club after about two years of looking for the right car. I brought home a new to me 1987 Guards Red 911. This is my first Porsche and I can't wait to tinker, learn, and of course drive it!

These cars are absolutely beautiful machines. I can admit that it has already scared me just on the drive home. The handling, the power, the noise, the smells, they're so enticing all I want to do is hang out in the garage and stare at it (Hit by a snow storm otherwise would be out driving right now!).

I've been lurking on this forum the entire time I've been looking for a 911, continuously learning and soaking in all the knowledge I possibly could. I've purchased Wayne's 101 Projects and How to Rebuild a 911 Engine books, along with Zimmermann's The Used 911 Story.

Just joined my local PCA (Kansas City Region) - if there's anyone apart of the KCRPCA that sees this I look forward to meeting you at the upcoming events!

Now time for the good stuff, Pictures!

Beautiful car!!! One of the best generations of the 911 (in my biased opinion).

Looking at your car, you've got me wanting to de-badge my deck-lid now.

Also, what kind of seats are those? They look comfy! And I bet would look sharp in black...

Hush NastyNick - you and I both know that the flesh and fecal tones are your favorite 911 colors!

Congrats.
Hopefully, you will have no use for the rebuild book!

Is the ar lowered, or is it just look that way due to larger wheels?

Congratulations these are fantastic cars.
And simple to work on too.
You should buy the Bentley Manual on Carreras - lots of good reading and dyi info.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Some specs on the car that will help answer some questions:

-Suspension: Stable energies truss strut brace, 22/28 torsion bars, weltmeister front and rear adjustable sways, bilstien shocks, turbo tie rods, bump-steer, synthetic bushings, and corner balanced.

-Brakes: stainless steel brake lines, new rotors, and porterfield pads

-Engine: Top end rebuild, authority chip with massflow air sensor, B&B headers, exhaust and heat exchangers with cat bypass (music to my ears, probably not my neighbors!)

-Transmission: Turbo clutch with synchos 1&2 replaced

Seats: still haven't found a brand on the seat so no clue what they are, sure are comfy and supportive though. The plan is to either replace or reupholster the seats to match the black interior.
