Close to the chassis would be stronger on the tube, place them outward but enough not to smash a line or component.

I've got a good inch or two that I can slide the rear jack outward - will do so now. Thanks!

 This is so much better stability than the end caps, never ever liked doing that in the past, plus you get about an inch more height if need for engine drops. Don't forget the front wheel chocks, BE SAFE BROTHER!
