SSI's and 2 in 1 out stock muffler.

My vote is for SSIs and a Dansk 2in2out GT3 Style. Rare, but great.

It's awesome.

Here's a system that worked real well.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/915427-84-89-911-exhaust-proven-results.html
We were very surprised how well this setup worked!

Based on these results I would vote to keep the heat exchangers as is and only make changes to the cat and the muffler just as was done above. Use the extra money you saved by not removing the exchangers and use that money in other places.

Do you have any additional pics of the setup or a video of how it sounded?

I think I understand how it works but is there any valve setup you have to do or is the valve simply inside the Magnaflow X muffler and does the work for you based on the level of throttle?

I'm guessing this setup will run you about $300-$400 in parts based on the components?

Also, is it necessary to change the chip?

Here's the type of vacuum valve you will need
NEW Vacuum Activated Exhaust Cutout 2'' 51MM Open Style Pressure: about 1 BAR | eBay
You weld this in on one of the outlets from the first muffler.

I contacted the owner of that setup to see if he'll take a video with sound of that exhaust.

EDIT: Here's the sound clip now in the thread:

Very cool. Would be nice to get a build sheet on how it's put together.

Thanks for sharing!

Has anyone taken a 32 muffler and modified it from a 1 out to a 2 out?

RarlyL8 01-16-2017 06:14 PM

Our MKM73 Single with GT3-Look Tailpipes would look good on your widebody. I didn't catch if you are using a cat but our cat bypass / muffler combo releases about as much power on the Carrera as SSI's. These are bolt-ons with no mods except the valance, which we also have cut custom for the muffler.

Definitely love the GT3 style look.

RarlyL8 01-16-2017 06:37 PM

Here is what it looks like from below installed along with our custom valance.

Tori 01-16-2017 08:30 PM

That looks fantastic. But what about the original opening on the left ?

RarlyL8 01-17-2017 04:06 AM

The custom valance is full wrap, only opening is in the middle for the twin pipes. You can also see it is 2-piece which greatly helps installation. You can remove either side to service the area and you can install it after the muffler is in place.

scarceller 01-17-2017 06:30 AM

Brian,

This setup should eliminate the typical drone found with 2 out pipe with the outlets at either end of the pipe? I assume this pipe has less/minimal cabin drone?

I love the look! And the fact that you sell it with the valance is a extra bonus!

Nice work.

What is the cost of the valence?

RarlyL8 01-17-2017 10:42 AM

Drone is a dual in dual out phenomenon, single in kills it as well as single out. This muffler is a bit louder than the single in single out, neither has drone.
Valances were created specifically to aid in getting the look you are after. Shoot me an email for pricing.

scarceller 01-17-2017 12:58 PM

I've tuned plenty of 3.2L and 3.4L over the years now and the results have shown that replacing the stock 3.2L heat exchangers is NOT necessary. You are throwing away money for most street built motors if you replace them. The down side is they are heavy but performance wise not much is gained replacing the exchangers.

However, replacing the cat and the factory exhaust has shown decent results. I suggest the first step is replace the cat then the muffler.

It's nice to know that the 1in pipes are not drone prone, yet another reason NOT to replace the stock exchangers, keep the single in muffler configuration.

That's what I have, with a Fabspeed cat bypass. I bought it form someone in the Pelican classifieds. It was debaffled also.

Great noise and still sounds like a Porsche. Sounds even better with the ITBs now.

FWIW, here's my 87 cab ( with wide body kit ). PO had installed a after market muffler that was junk. I contacted a Brian at M & K and decided on cat replacement with his " pre muffler" & sport muffler ( 1 in 2 out). I had to modify rear bumper because previous muffler was not correct. I love the look & sound. Here's a couple of pix. Hope that helps.
