Oil Temp & Pressure Gauge Question
I have a 1976 911 and the oil temperature gauge stopped working but the pressure reading works. Is there a way I can check the plugs or some way to check the gauge in order to locate the source of the problem?

When you wrote, not working, is the temp gauge pegged up or just not moving from the bottom level?

well it does move whenever electricity is put to it, but after that it doesn't read anything.

So it moves a little off the bottom?
Do you have a IR reader to check the thermostat on the passenger side rear wheel well. How long of a drive and what is the outside temps?

No IR reader. My driving has been anywhere from 55 degrees to 80 degrees maybe 45 minute joy ride trips.
I thought maybe there was a way to put an amp meter to the wires or just send the gauge somewhere. |

Well, you could pull the gauge and place a volt meter to the wires and after 45 minutes, see if the voltage changes, this way you can verify if the sensor is bad or the gauge or if you a have Pelican near by that will help you out, you can swap their gauge into you car and verify that way too.

Does anyone know where to find the proper wiring configuration? I want to double check that these are correct.
I really have no idea what I'm doing with the multimeter. I'm pretty sure I'm checking for ohms, but I don't really know how to start i.e. where to put the ground lead. |
