				Cruise control cable compatibility

Hi Guys, I was looking to buy a new cruise control cable for my 84. The only one I find on our host is for 81-83. Different part numbers, but they look the same basically. Dose anyone know if the 81-83 cable will fit 84-86 911's? Thanks, Dave

the cable on my 85 connector at the TB broke off. I replace with a guitar string, keeping the outer part of the assembly.

The Carrera models started in 1984 of course. The end is fixed in place and you screw it into the throttle assembly. To my knowledge they are not available new. I looked around a lot. My cable snapped off and I have never found the end piece. It is in the engine compartment somewhere. Finally I found a used one. You can check on Ebay or here on Pelican in the for sale - used parts section. To replace the entire cable you have to remove the three screws on the front of the vacuum module behind the heater fan. It is a little trick getting the cable off of the vacuum module but easy to figure out. Most likely the replacement used cable will have a brittle clip that holds the cable in position. Use two or three zip ties to hold it in place. If you find a source of new ones please let me know.

Thanks. I am using a used cable, and it needs some zip ties to reinforce it. Was just looking for a new, intact alternative. Dave

Btw the cable I'm using did not have enough travel to allow full movement of the throttle back to idle. I had to cut out an inch of the outer sheath and reglue. Dave
