Dashboard refinish

Hello,
Have a question about dash board leather re-upholstery:

- anyone used the leather cover from ebay:

Black Stitch Top Dash Dashboard Leather Cover Fits Porsche 911 930 SC 75 84 | eBay

They have a very positive ratings...
Can it be used for re-upholstery of old dash board?
How is the fit and quality ?

Also, interested in their other product for porsche (1983 SC) - fitting and finish
Thanks
Stan

I sent the dashboard out of my '71 Six to Just Dashes in CA. Cost is $900 to make it like new.

First time I've seen them. Looks like they do a nice job. Money well spent, if it looks anything like this:

For me problem is shipping - round trip from Japan to US is a lot of money for large size like dash.
Need to do it by myself

Dash

If you are replacing the dash due to shrinkage and re-do leather, be advised that the new one will shrink too. That is a very hostile environment for leather.

Many/most upholstery guys will tell you that if the car sees a lot of sun, vinyl is a better choice than leather....but if it's garaged/pampered, leather is of course much nicer.

Cairo --- Just Dashes is near me (pasadena). Will want to contact them about redoing dash for my 83 SC, two cracks. Do you have pics of your new/redone dash that you can post/share?

Thanks!

I had my dash redone by Just Dashes about ten years ago. It came back looking like a brand new dash. At that time the cost was $600. One problem I had was I waited a long time for it to be done. When I called them, they said they were waiting to get some more in so they could make a run with several dashes. After six months I called & let them know I was pretty unhappy. That got the dash back to me in about three weeks.

Very interesting! Thanks for posting.

My '88 cabriolet dash (with Tenax posts) is ever so slightly warped immediately above the center vent. Does anyone know if either of these providers can address that? It's subtle, but I know it's there. Shame too, as the rest of the dash is in excellent condition. Car only has 59k miles, but lived in the gulf coast of Florida, so she saw some sun back in the day.

Thx

Just got mine back from Classic 9 leather shop. Excellent workmanship and came back looking like new.

Since the windshield has to come out you should replace the w/s gasket at the same time. This is especially true if you live in a place with a lot of sun. The gaskets dry out all allow water to leak down the A-pillar.

Just one Since You job.

Dash warp

My dash had a leather cover put in place by the PO, and of course the dash does exhibit some warping. Are folks able to straighten these? It's not horrible and the leather cover is in great condition, but I always see the warped area around the defroster vents while driving. Before I start pulling the windshield and the dash, I thought it wise to be sure it can be successfully refurbished.
