Should this be my next car?

The transmission might be Porsche, but what about the car and the name?

I'd buy one, and I think they'd sell quite a few with a sticker price of 15 grand.

later,

I can see that the name is irresistable. And the specs are great, for a sub-15K car.

But that thing is butt ugly. It even makes the 350Z look good, which isn't very easy.

Jack, you are right about the name. I didn't get the butt ugly feeling about this car. Maybe I posted the wrong link. Check out this site.

IMO this car sort of looks like a 911 with some angles to it.

good tranny, but not nearly as cool as the Pontiac Solstice concept!

Hey Razor, I'm working on my suspension this weekend (starting on Sat). I'll have to post something on it soon, but just wanted to give you some warning. I've also told David in case he can drop by.

Ugly or not, 15 grand for 250 HP? 2500 lbs? I'll believe it when I see it.

It's fugly. It might help if they painted the A pillar black so it wouldn't stand out showing it's bad angle.

Who knows maybe they'll improve on it like they finally did on the Viper. Which looks pretty damn good aside from the Dodge Ram grill.

It looks like a suitcase with wheels and a windshield.

Don't get me wrong, though, I approve of a mass market car with 250 hp, 2500 pounds, and a $15,000 price tag. That's awesome.

And the 914 wasn't all that much of a looker, either.

Aesthetics may not be so good on that Dodge, but if some manufacturer (US or otherwise), builds a LIGHT 2 seat car with over 240 hp, they could sell a bajillion of 'em.

Will this razor car fit into an SCCA class for competition?
Will Dodge offer a stripped down version (no a/c, no sunroof, etc.)?

This from the fist link:
Quote:
True to minimalist form, Dodge Razor's only ornamentations are the chrome bumpers, the racing-style billet-aluminum gas cap, the classic door handles and mirrors and the jewel-like lamp design.
The same holds true for the interior. It offers the necessities for driving, nothing more. No power windows or mirrors, no radio or leather power seats, no frills whatsoever. Dodge Razor offers its two occupants lightweight, competition-style seats, four-point racing harnesses, storage behind their seats and the pure joy of driving.
Jack, sounds like you'd have to add a cupholder anyway...and I don't see A/C listed anywhere either!

IF the car goes into production, SCCA will classify it for stock class competition, undoubtedly. But that is a big IF, at this point, since it is just a concept.

Tom, what other cars would this compete with? I plan on racing one more year in karts, but next year would like to move to cars. Something about this car (low price, high power, new looks, right name) has me excited. I'd really like to race this car in wheel to wheel competition.

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm very new to the racing scene.

What is the lightest auto manufactured and licensed for use on US roads? Given the safety and emissions regs, how light can one be made?

A 240hp Elise would be fun...

ask and you shall receive ( pay and you shall receive??) at the LA autoshow, where the Razor was on display, i snapped a picture of Prototype Racing's Lotus with 240 hp honda transplant. Looks better than in the pictures, and I am sure would be great fun. max http://www.prototyperacing.com/
