"Correct" 75 RS 3.0 Decals???

So my Rat Rod is going to be an RS 3.0 tribute of sorts. I am not going for an exact replica, but I would like to have some of these smaller details accurate. I like hot rods that, though they may deviate from the real cars in some substantial ways (this car will have coil overs and a 3.6) they also get some of the minute details right. To that end I have been trying to determine a few things, and thought maybe the experts here might know and/or have some sources. What do I want to know...for now?

  • What is the "correct" RS script on the Decklid and where do I source a decal?
  • It looks like the "correct" Carrera was gold with a black outline?
  • Did the RS 3.0 really come without a glove box door and only a drviers sive sunvisor
  • Did these cars come with an RS style felt carpet kit?
  • Was the frunk carpeted?
  • Did they come with a "PORSCHE" across the nose?

The RS is the hard part right now. The narrow body cars have a badge that says Carrera RS not the deck lid. The tradition from R-S is angled. On many of the pictures I have found of "real" and probably "properly" resorted cars (like Lord Hesketh's RS that James Hunt drive) the transition from R to S is not angled and far smoother. This decal actually looks a lot like the "RSR" that was not the back of many RSR's...without the R.

This brochure picture shows a real Carrera RS 3.0 and you will notice the black outline of the Carrera. Almost all others I see only have a gold Carrera without the outline. At first my research suggested all RS 3.0's had gold wheels and gold badging...but I am not 100% sure. Does anyone know if Gold was the only color from the factory? Any clue if the black outline was also there? Any clue where I could get that?
1975 Factory Brochure Photo of an RS 2.7 and an RS 3.0

Most of my research suggests the RS 3.0 came with lower dash pads, no glove box door, and only a drivers side visor. Just want to validate that here with the experts.

The seats were very RS/light weight, but I cannot find any info about the carpets in this car. Does anyone know what carpet was in this?

This was a street car, albeit an RS. Every shot of a "restored" real on shows a bare metal trunk. Just wondering is anyone can confirm this for me.

Many of these cars have "PORSCHE" across the bottom of the Frunk. I have found a few that have it on the flat slab of the front bumper. Can anyone help me determine how they came from the factory?

Here is a link with many pictures of a restored RS 3.0. Who knows if the restorations as done "right".....1975 RS 3.0, even though its incorrectly labeled as a 74

Based on the factory photos from the day, there were no decals or other badges on rear lid of those cars

Bill, very interesting. I have seen some cars that had the PORSCHE on the front, all the cars I saw had a decal crest on the light weight Frunk, so your pictures are very interesting. That said most (but not all) had RS's on the deck lid, like the picture from the brochure (below). This is also the picture that shows the black edge'd gold Carrera side script I referenced above. I meant to put this picture above and will add it now.

I want to believe you because I have seen you depth of knowledge. I question this though because of the brochure picture, and the fact that some really rare cars (Lord Hesketh's car for one, along with several others that have sold at reputable auctions had the RS on them. I find it hard to believe those restorations of a 1 of 54 built car would be done "so incorrectly." Can you share where those pictures you posted come from?

Here is a picture from what I think is the 1974 Paris Auto Show....

Thanks to a member here I received some pictures of the Hesketh 911 RS 3.0 pre-restoration. So this is about as close as I can get to "the gospel" on this one. It looks like all of the gold decals have a black outline, and the RS on the deck lid looks just like the RS that is part of the "Carrera RS" badge that came not eh narrow body cars. This car also has no glovebox door.
