I have found two connections that were not connected on my baby. I knew very well where one went, but I cannot remember where this connector goes. I thought a saw a photo of it in the Porsche Manuals showing a connection near the fuse block, but I do not believe there is any place in that area for this type of plug. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter? Thank you,

Cruise control. Or if your '83 is a Euro, thermovalve.

The cruise control on my 80SC has a Gray/Brown stripe wire and white/green stripe wire on its cable connector. the connector looks simular to the one in your pic. The rear window defrost harness connector has red/black stripe and red/white stripe wires attached.

Rob, The cruise control is plugged in but that was a good catch! '83 US Spec.
Richard, I do not have a rear windshield wiper. Could this just be a spare connector? I do not remember any connectors without homes... Pat, I am digging around for where the rear window defrost harness might be. Any help would be appreciate as I do not think mine is charging. You might very well be onto something, but I just don't see a connection up high where this wire would reach. Thanks,

Looks like the plug to the thermovalve on my car. My car has a 78 SC motor that has a valve that is closed on start up. After a while, the current from this connector heats it up and opens the valve. It isolates the vacuum to the WUR when the cold. Mine is right next to the blower as I can see in your picture.
I don't know if the above applies the 83 motor, but I'll see if I can get a picture for you of mine. |

I have a Targa and the defrost wire harness/connector is on the left of the engine compartment and goes up through the body frame to the bottom left side of the rear glass. The wires are laid into the rubber seal and have spade connectors that connect to the filement contacts on the bottom edge of the glass.
