Pretty subjective question.
I prefer 40 in the back with 35 front and my suspension is pretty stiff. I see folks here wanting soft compliant air pressures on 15's! I'm running 18's. If you're really pushing it, I've been told you want to run low 30's or even high 20's since the tires will get hot and add a lot of pressure. |

Disclaimer I don't have a set of TBs, but 40 seems a little high?
Tire pressure is not subjective in the sense that each tire manufacture designs each tire for max performance at a certain pressure. Any change from the manufactures suggested air pressure diminishes the grip/wear and performance of the slick/tire. The TBs are so expensive I would do everything possible to maximize their tread life. The TB has an optimized tire pressure for best grip and wear. Seems 40 would be too high? If 40 is over inflated you will have less grip and uneven wear. Too much pressure will wear the centers out quickly. Camber should be set close to 0. For the track my bias ply slicks (Goodyears and Avons) like 25 hot. On a track day we start at 18 and get to 25 after the first session. We did a 7 hour tour/road trip on bias ply treaded Avons and set the pressure at 27. They stayed at 27 for the 7 hours as expected we could not get any tire heat on public roads at legal speeds. ![]() Photo by Jamie. ![]() Last edited by ted; 02-10-2017 at 07:13 AM.. |
