I'm no expert, but those look home made to me. The early R fenders were made of one piece of a single piece of fiberglass, with a hole where the horn grille is, and filled in where the signal light had been. Then, two lights were affixed, one clear and one amber.
![]() Of course, in racing, lots of different teams would cobble together lots of different mods -- flares, wheels, weight saving tricks. What's 'authentic' and what's not is open to interpretation.

Eric,
The car in your picture is an S/T. Those would be "appropriate" for that car. I like the extra venting for the fender mount oil cooler.

oh,let's nit pick. The picture of the white 911R has a H-4 headlamp- NOT correct for that year production. They "typically" had cibie or marchal replacement lamps in the usa 66 headlite assemblies

A couple of pictures of 911R's
This one from Paul Frere's 911 Story, the 1967 Tour de Corse 911R ![]() and from"The Porsche Book" by Lothar Boschen and Jurgen Barth. ![]() |

Then again, we're talking about different models: the early racing 911R's, the 911ST's and the various T/S permutations. No one was much concerened about authenticity back then. They were out to win races.

F&R lights used on the original 911R's weren't always the same - even though there were only 4 prototypes & 20 'production' (!) models made.
I have been fortunate enough to witness the (gradual) restoration/renovation of 911R #3 & it came from the factory with std 911 swb front turnsignals & rear tail lamps. Andy Boyle(UK) '69 911E----------->R

Wanna save 10 lbs off the butt end? Use flexible LEDs (dearch Google on those terms for sources) to make new, lighter rear lights. If you make them, I will buy....
This could also work for the front turn signals, tho the wt. penalty is not so severe there. |

I researched this, and even bought some sets. LED clusters are about as heavy as stock lights. Most of the weight in back comes from the metal assembly that holds everything in place. With the R-style fiberglass plates and round Hella light assemblies you've cut things about as much as you can legally manage.
The lightest solution of all would probably be to simply affix light bulbs to the back of a stock lens, but I don't think this would be very robust, in terms of vibration, heat or weather.

Right, it's the metal assembly. My idea is to get rid of that and use a bank of LEDs (not incandescent bulbs).
