Widest wheel on a stock 77 S?
Wonder my what people have run for wheel widths.

The common thought is a 205 will fit... 205 would rub on my driver side when cornering. Some brands didn't though. I got sick of it and just used 195s no issues now.

factory race/rally- 6ET36 x15 front & 7ET49 x15 w/ 7-10mm spacer depending on the tire used and chassis setup or 7x15ET23.3 front & 7ET23.3 to ET41 rear again depending on tire and setup Some private owners have squeezed 7ET23 front and 8ET23.3 rear in 15 or 16, this is a tough fitment

this is a 7.5" wheel with 225 tire on my '77. No rubbing with rolled lip and some negative camber.

Stock 6 inch Fuchs, height and alignment.
On my dad's very stock 74 narrow body, I had 205/60 rubbing on the right rear fender, (not the lip).
It had not yet blistered the paint, so I went with a 195/50 Dunlop. After refreshing the rear suspension and brakes, cornerweighting and alignment, I could find some rims with a little more - offset and width. chris |

When I had mine, I ran 7x15 and 8x15 with 225/50 in front and 245/45 in rear. Also 7x17 and 9x17 with 225/50 and 255/40.
You can get away with sizes like that if you have... -a stiffer suspension, -and/or run a little negative camber (like say -1.5), -and/or roll your fender a little. The other trick is to closely examine the brand's exact overall diameter and section width. Ride height makes a difference too, the lower you go the trickier it gets.

that's a good point. I've found that bridgestone re-11 are super wide compared to other tires of the same size
