Dumb early Recaro question on headrest

Been a while since I started a thread, and this one seems juvenile, but searches here or Google didn't yield me an answer.

Anyone know a trick or a strategy to get a stubborn head rest to reinsert into an early Recaro 70-72 seat? Both work in one seat, but neither will insert into the other. They have been in there not so long ago and the seat shows no visible damage.

I know they sometimes present some resistance to first engage, but I've seemingly applied plenty of grunt. I can't get either post to insert, one at a time either.

IDEAS????

TIA

I ground the ends of my stalks down to a shallow taper. If you spy inside the hole, you'll see the little catch that's there to stop the headrest at the indent in the stalk. For some reason it gets in the way when reinserting.

Thanks groovydude. That is all it took. I simply removed the burs and added a little taper to the side where the indents were. That's all it took, but again it was a NO GO before. no matter how much i wiggled or pressure short of breaking something I applied to head rest.

I wanted to follow up in case the two of us aren't the only ones who ever run into this problem. And make the search feature more useful.
