Broke my airbox strap retaining hook--ideas to fix?

I bought some new airbox straps and went to install them. In the process of removing the old ones from the airbox, I managed to break off one of the integral hooks on the bottom of the airbox.

Anyone got any ideas for repairing this? I should add that the box is installed on the engine in the car, not as in the pic below.

I'm also afraid of installing the new strap. They are much shorter and will exert what seems like WAY too much tension on the integral hook, possibly breaking a repair I might make, and the ones that's still intact.

I made a simple steel bend and screwed it on. No problems in 10 years. I always grab both ends when stretching them to install or take off to not stress the tabs more than nessesary.

PDude's solution is much more elegant than mine. After experiencing what seemed like an awfully short service life from the rubber straps, I went to using a bungee cord. Just one run diagonally from the top left regular attachment wire down to the bottom left area. The hook is (or I bent it) wide enough to hook under the lip of the main air box assembly. The cover and filter stay put as well this way, at least for track use, as the stock setup.

Looks tacky, but works.

Related: My straps are a bit stretched so instead of attaching them in the conventional manner, I cross them like an X which makes everything secure.
