Making the best of a Fuched up situation

A while back, I was a little down from the realization that the wheels that came with my new to me 911 were knockoffs. See the following thread:

Did I get Fuched?

I decided to get real Fuchs, the 16s my car originally came with. But since I'm putting lots of money in the car this year, it would have to wait.

Here is what the wheels looked like before:

Now all it took was some mothers wheel polish, the applicator ball that attaches to a drill, some masking tape and satin black wheel paint.

Now I know that painting the whole inside would have been easier but I like the original look. Now I can tolerate those faux-Fuchs for a season or two!

You can always buy the stem protectors from Ecklers or maybe Pelican if they carry them and no one will know the difference.

And if you're careful, the lower indented parts of the centre cap engraving will remain black to give some texture and show off the Porsche shield.

Looking good, Alex.

You will need to remove the black paint from the lug holes. Many place quarters in them to prevent paint infiltration. Any who, legend has it you will not have a positive mating surface between wheel and lug bolt which may result in them loosening with less than desirable consequences.

After all, you don't want to get worse fuched-up by not un-******* up your un-Fuchs.

I very HIGHLY recommend either the valve stem supports or getting steel valve stems. A month after I bought my car I had one of the rear valve stems walk out at about 120 mph in a corner. It was an ,uhhhh, interesting experience...
Later when I inspected the rims I found marks where the valve caps were rubbing on the wheels from the centrifugal forces.
