These comments have just been so spot on its amazing. I bought the e30 m3 because I always lusted after it and I was just watching their values rise. I didn't want to miss out like I did with long hood 911s or LR Defender 90s, which I did while watching their values sky rocket. So I paid the premium (north of 55k) to get one that had been babied by only two previous owners. I think I decided I shouldn't sell for a loss certainly. It is more rare than the same gen Porsche and always a crowd pleaser at cars and coffee. But yes it is underwhelming driving around town. Now on windy back country roads in the early morning, its a lot of fun. I do miss the 78 SC Targa I daily-ed while living in socal. Never felt bored in that car. Although my wife always reminds me of the time we drove from Irvine to the valley in July when it was 105 degrees outside and the 101 was bumper to bumper. Maybe I can still convince her about a clean driver 3.2 915/g50 to enjoy.

$55k gets you a fantastic G50 coupe in an interesting color with $5k left over for a Texas-capable Griffiths AC setup.

Don't get an example that's too nice to drive...

I sold my E30 M3 about a year and a half ago. I prefer my 911 as it's faster, better looking, and more "exotic" with the engine in the back. Of course this is my opinion. The M3 is more rare since so few were produced, but if I had a choice again I would still pick my 911.
