Targa Hard Top - Which Color?

I was fortunate to have an extra frame and I bought the fiberglass top for a very nice price so I figured why the heck not. Now, should it be black or white? What do you think? Not that it will sway my opinion any but I have had conflicting thoughts by several folks. I'm interested in what the PP community thinks.

Black looks more classic, but Tubs and Crockett like the white one.

Headlights in chrome would look good with a stainless Targa bar and a black top. I do like the black top, but You have to like it, not me.

I do love chrome sugar scoops. Real quality chrome.

Nice car.

My 86 Targa is also white and I think that the contrast of the black top and black accents against the GP white really sets it off. So, my vote is for the black top.

Good reply, had me laughing!

In pics, the targa bar appears white. Lots of white, I'd go black top for more contrast and either change targa bar to black or the shiny metal almost anodized look of early & mid 70's targa's.

Nice looking car!

Someday I'd like to either buy a Saratoga top or do what you're doing with the FG or helion top. Let us know how you like it and pics of course when done. Also does it reduce road noise?

Regards,

Targa Hard Top - Which Color?

My vote is on the black, good contrast. I will be honest, with the white rims and white top, I had a flashback to the villain, Mr. White in the movie "Inner Space". Everything he had was white.. But then again, you do have black door edge guards.

I like the black. Otherwise too much white for my taste. Sweet looking ride for sure.

The way your car is currently, the white top is the only way to go. Just my 2 cents.

The hard top is still black - I photoshopped it as a proof of concept. It makes it look 'coupe like' which an interesting idea. Normally I run it sans top...

Mike ,

It makes it look like an ugly coupe- having the colored roof just highlights the flatness of a targa roof. With it black, the windscreen and Targa bar are what defines the shape as the top "disappears."

Mike, is your car with or without airbags? Looking at it from an inductive logic standpoint............

Not only black, but a satin black and ditch the gloss look as is shown in your pic. JMO, of course.

^ +1 on satin. Return targa bar to satin black or strip back to stainless.

Check your wardrobe.

If you already own a white suit, yeah, go for it, white.
