Jack Points
Just bought myself a nice new hydraulic floor jack! Tried it at the weekend, with a jack pad in the opening under the door. I wasn't a bit happy with the height that I had to raise the car in order to get the jackstands under the front "A" brackets where Wayne recommends placing them. It seems to put real strain on the car. There is a square box section behind the wheel arch that looks like a much better option - has any one ever tried to use this point - with a carefully placed piece of wood of course!

I lift either on a suspension pickup or behind the wheel arch. I was glad I didn't use the jacking poit when I saw the state of the metal behind it!

I've heard that using the oil sump plate on the bottom of the motor is also a good jacking point to lift the rear of the car. This is probably why the sump plate is slightly dented on my car.
