Sheet metal with some good welding and finish work. I wondered for a bit if they were stainless. Nicely done any way. All the screw holes are marked on the bumpers but I didn't bother taking any more detailed pictures. Mark at Eurotech thought they were better than most of the stuff he has seen. We made a comparison of a set of C2 bumpers that just came in from Better Bodies and the Shaw pieces were more substantial. Gotta say though neither pair is much more than a bit of thin fiber glass. (we are going to be dropping some serious weight here boys

The Shaw pieces seemed more substantial and were more rigid. But the Better Bodies parts are a different type of glass and are more flexable intentionally.

If it isn't raining tomorrow I can get some more detailed pictures, just tell me what you want to see. I have a Ruf lip that is going on from Pie and it looks like that won't be a problem from Mark's comments. The light buckets need the newer and slightly larger fog lights than my '79. The '84 on should work fine. Haven't decided to use them as a driving light, keep the fogs or make them air ducts for my 930 brakes.

Thanks Dane. I would recommend coating the back side of the bumpers with undercoating to decrease the likelihood of shock cracking. I have ambitions of Rhino coating the back of mine. I can live with the extra weight for longevity. I would coat the bars too.

Any pictures you can get to will be helpful. How do the light recesses look, how does the back lip/flange look, etc,..

Gosh, I am still waffling. As I mentioned before, I absolutely love the rear RUF bumper. It looks sweet. The front bumper is nice, but the shelf bothers me. The lack of the bumper smile rubber makes the shelf look so large.

The white turbo with RUF bumpers looks pretty cool. I'm now trying to visualize the same bumpers, white car, and black center fuchs.

I had a chance to look at Pie's front cap that he said was molded from a actual Ruf front bumper. My Shaw piece is slightly different, as the lower lip curves up instead of down as Pie's does. I also picked up one of the Ruf lip sets. Save your self some money, they are just made from industrial belting material, .35" thick and 2.20" deep and easy enough to fix to the bumpers if you take your time. Looks like they would be cake to cut on a band saw. I suspect you could get a numer of them from the same piece of conveyor belt if someone has the time to saw them up. You sure won't break them

BTW Pie's white "Ruf to be cab" looks to e a sweat ride.

I got them from my local P parts dealer. He had a client who had the orginal parts on his car and asked if he could make molds of them. He had 3 pairs made for his clients

i paid 700 euro/dollar for both.

I have heard this more than once. I had reservations too. After the front bumper cap was installed, however, the "shelf" does not stand out and actually complements the look IMHO.

Considering the CTR YB was very purposefull in design to reach 200+ mph, there must be a function of the shelf. I doubt ALois just made it a straight plane just because. I am thinking it actually serves to increase downforce on the front end. The front end of hte 911 has a slight nose down attitute. When the shelf is positioned with this nose down attitude it seems that air flowing over the front end would be directed at pushing the nose of the car down. I would think the "shelf" would do this much better than the rounded sillouette of the OEM bumper.

Anyone hear anything on this?

Only factors are weight, really. Rubber and aluminum suck. Fiberglass rules. And I paint the ***** myself, so swapping out is easy--I guess. Although, the painting isn't as much fun as it could be.

The door panels were made for 28 bucks. They're light. They're not snapped on. The panel can't handle the tugging. So I used long strips of velcro--I don't like toiling. If something's wrong, I need to get that panel off. The velcro holds them well (very wide)...and you just pull them off.

Yes, I took off the door handles, got new rubber gaskets for them, took out the locks, and painted them red. If they can do it on 993s, I can do it. They look quite cool in person or I'd have changed them back.

The weight continues to go down. The ducktail is light as a feather, and so are the side panels. But I'm running out of things to swap out. I haven't weighed it.

Panel opens door and passenger can close it. Again, bare minimum. I don't care about making it fancy, just functional.

In the end, I don't care about making it Ruf or anything else. I'm just looking for the combos that work. Not striving for any particular look or model.
In the end, it's a blast one way or another.

It's been a long time since you guys saw this thread, BUT!

Anyone know how the 935 mirrors are mounted? Are they the the same as the Ruf side mirrors? If not, how do the Ruf mirrors mount?

THose mirrors are mounted to the front "vent glass". Not sure if they're 935 or not, but you can check it out on my racecar later.
