Looking to do this job soon.. but when searching for tools, Pelican Parts lists this as for "installation only"... why?
And if it's for install only, then what do you use to remove?

My guess is you potentially have to use a bunch more torque and shock to get a frozen ball joint off then the amount to install it. Perhaps this tool can't take that kind of abuse.

If you are replacing everything cut it off. Anything short of that will likely end in frustration and you cutting it off any way.

cut what off?

I don’t know about this tool, but the one I bought in ‘97 worked fine on removal of my ball joints. I layed on my back and used an air wrench to get the nuts off,

The ball joints are secured by a ring nut that's nearly impossible to get loose. I ended up cutting a slit in mine with the angle grinder.

Chisel and BFH or a big pipe wrench.

Yes, apologies on not being clear. Cutting that nut off will save you time, your body and your expensive socket.
