Question for the electrical guru's about a stuck horn
The other night I was awakened by the sound of one of my horns on my ’87 Targa making a god awful buzzing sound. I ran into the garage without my glasses and pulled relays on the fuse panel until the noise quit. As I remember the relay was warm. I can’t remember which relay it was since I had just woken up.
Later I reinstalled the relays and the one I have installed in the horn relay position gets warm again but the horn no longer is buzzing. I removed the relay so not to cause further damage. Several months prior I had installed a Momo steering wheel. I’ve removed the wheel and checked the operation of the horn button expecting the switch to have failed. It seems to be working fine. Can someone give an electrical idiot some guidance on affecting repairs? Thank you in advance,

I had a similar issue with the horn on my 3.2, ie; horn suddenly blasting out in the middle of the night, i first removed the battery terminal, and then removed the relay, i cant say it ever happend again, although i dont leave the battery connected up now when the car isnt in use, just incase.
Hope you get it sorted. A... Quote:

No expert here but when you say buzzing, are you sure it was not the factory alarm system's buzzer, as it is separate from the OEM Trumpet style Hi-Low horns in the right front fender? Those would have been super loud
![]() Warm fuse when car is off, not good, you have too much resistance on that circuit somewhere. There is a definite short in your system. I would remove the pan and take a look at the alarm horn that sits behind the fuel pump for corrosion or loose ground making contact with the chassis. For that matter, I would check the Trumpets in front of the oil cooler. Mine was pretty corroded, low never worked until I cleaned it.

Could be a short in your horn ring, since you changed the steering wheel.

Mine happened while waiting for the light. Car infront of me got pissed off thinking I was a douche. I got out pulled the relay and went to the curb. I checked my steering wheel (aftermarket) and saw the wire spliced hitting the metal. So far my most embarassing moment. Must be a bad ground somewhere

It wound up being a failed relay which took out both horns. All replaced and good to go. Thanks for the responses.
