heater control malfunction

recently had my 87 carrera 3.2 coupe repainted what a headache among the issues is my heater will come on and turn off the knob is turned off but it will turn the heat on by itself i remove the unit and sent it in to loren at systems sc as i felt it was a coincidence because i could not see how they could have screwed it up but he tells me that body shops will disconnect the sensors and the system will behave like this my question does anyone know where these sensors connect to the system that they would be disconnected taking the windows out?
