Weiher's philosophy for better living:
Wife leased. Porsche bought.

Herr Weiher (Weiher translates to "pond" I think) is driving down the sunny side of life. His Porsche isn't just a dangerous weapon against overmotorised compact cars, but also attracts women in a magical way. "Better quality of life", claims Herr Weiher, "that is the dream for us all". Now I have fulfilled it. I simply lease my women at G.I.R.L.S Leasing, the biggest Girl-Leasing-Company in Germany. There I don't have to marry someone that I'll have to drag around constantly- no I pay only for the service I get in the leasing contract. By a resonable deposit and low monthly leasing rates. And wenn I suddenly grow tired of some girl I simply take her back and pick a new one instead. Well, and by the money that I saved by avoiding divorce and financial compensation etc. I was able to buy the Porsche. In cash, brand new and without financing/loans. Since then the knock off time in the bar has been twice the fun. You should see the envious faces of my pals: always a new woman, always the same car. Naturally, for when you're smart the comfortable things in life don't automatically have to happen in steps. Visit one of the numerous G.I.R.L.S Partner for Girls and Women so that you can learn how well you drive with G.I.R.L.S

Mikkel,

Couple of comments regarding leasing.

1) The leasing company will insist on inspecting the goods when you return the product. If you haven't paid for the regular maintenance costs you can expect a huge bill.

2) The leasing company counts on your returning the product for the next generation. So in the long run you end up paying over and over again, and never actually buy anything.

3) If you do decide to eventually purchase the product, the buy out costs are considerable. More than if you had made monthly purchase prices to start with.

On the plus side -

1) Obviously you get the latest model.

2) Try before you buy. Renting might be cheaper but even so leasing lets you make a smaller down payment and have the goods now.

3) Depending upon the lease, the payments can be tax deductable. Not so when you rent an item.

In summary I would recommend buying the Porsche, and leasing a younger model G.I.R.L. with the consideration of eventual purchase if the maintenance is not too high.

I think that should read "take her back and pick a 'used' one instead.
That said, I agree with Thom. Lease it!

Mikkel -- thanks. That's absolutely hysterical. And the picture is worth several thousand words.

I've got no problems buying used, it often means somebody else has worked out the bugs and quirky behavior. Not only that, sometimes the PO has improved the chassis and limbered up the handling.

As a previous owner myself to a pair of 'older models', I have to admit to buying each a pair of chassis improvements...no doubt the present owners enjoy the fruits of my labors... The maintenance and upkeep on these proved too great. I've since taken to leasing a newer model where such bodywork has been deemed so far completely unneeded. There is an option to buy at an as yet undeclared date in the future...

Ryan,

That's the problem with bolt-on parts. You pay big bucks for 'em and never see any return when you sell or return the product.

Hopefully you at least got some pleasure from the after-market parts while they were in your hands.

The value of the lease will be largely determined by the residual.

Kinda like my "catch and release" dating philosophy...
