Removing air flow meter

Does anyone have any tips about accessing the interior of the airflow meter from the metal housing? Do you have to cut through the sealant to remove the black plastic part, or is there a way of accessing it from the top? (I want to adjust the sweeper arm to put it in contact with fresh material on another track.)

Probably a dumb question, I know. And, believe it or not, I did a search.

Thanks!

Hi Hugh,
You are correct. You need to cut through the adhesive which attaches the black plastic cover.
Good luck,
Dave

yes - you need to get the black plastic cap off. On most it appears to be sealed on with RTV. See here for when this was first posted by FR Wilk. Now some host copies of this article

Just be careful not to mess with the spring adjustment as that throws everything off

Thanks, guys -- I figured as much.

Ingo, thanks for the link (that was going to be my guide). I'm hoping I can just loosen the pinch nut, slide the arm down a touch on the axle, and be done. Definitely a minimalist approach here ...
