Weber conversion Carrera 3.0

Hello
I would like to switch to a CIS system with the WEBER 40 IDA 3C.
What can I put on as an intake manifolds. The engine is a carrera 3.0
Does PMO manufactures an intake manifolds?
thank you in advance

Most used Webers are used up. PMO makes a great product and will supply everything you need with a better carb than the original. Pricey but worth it.

If I remember he only deals with the initial order via fax. After you buy he does talk on the phone or via email.

Good luck.....BTW, switching to carbs is best if you upgrade the cams and tweak the ignition. Stock FI cams on the 3.0 aren't the best with carbs for performance and/or mileage per gallon.

Yes

Even with webers use the pmo intakes

They are engineered to block off the cis ports

Thank you for your reply
I know that PMO carburetors are very good but I already have the weber in very good condition.

Also, when you order your PMO manifolds for your weber carbs also order the spacers(or insulators) or whatever he calls them

Note that the factory manifolds won't work

Do you have to run insulators? My mechanic put the tall PMO manifolds on my 2.7 spec. Motor but did not install insulators.

I have this set up on my 3.0 big port motor. I used the 46MM PMO tall intakes with weber 40's and it works great. Excellent low end throttle response. I also have Web Cams with SSI's and it feels stronger than my 3.2 motronic motor.

Best of luck

Bob

No you don't have to run the insulators but they are a good idea as they are a heat barrier.

I would have to put new studs. I don't think mine are long enough for insulators.

ginot912 05-20-2017 02:47 PM

I heard fuel boiling in my webers before I put insulators in.
Longer studs came with the kit, if I remember correctly.

On my 2.7, I used the PMO kit and did use the insulators. Then I installed a switch that allows me to turn off the fuel pump before parking the car. That allows the fuel in the float bowls to drop to a lower level and helps with the hot fuel percolating. Especially with today's ethanol laced fuels, it helps cut down on the fuel boiling out of the vent tubes.

what webcam grind did you use? I have used the 120/104 grind and have a had terrible time getting off a rich at idle and highway cruzing speeds AF.

Thanks for all your answers
Someone has already ordered from PMO, could you please explain how did you proceed ?
Thank you

It seems a shame to mess with such a beautiful engine as a Carrera 3.0.

timmy2 05-28-2017 01:42 PM

From what I've read, PMO only accepts orders and questions via fax machine.
Fill out the ordering information and ask any questions. He will get back to you.

I known kjet injection isn't the best one but it s possible to change when ever i want to the original configuration. I just want to try it

Old school, but keeps one from answering emails all day long...
Lots of free apps out there that will send a fax from your smart phone.

You want to end up with something like this. XDi ignition not required :)
