Install: Yellow Bird style rear bumper
I'm considering installing a Yellow Bird style rear bumper on my '81SC.. I did a search and found all kinds of information about vendor issues: quality, ridiculous shipping rates, wait time etc., but found nothing about the installation itself. I plan on doing the install myself, so I don't want any surprises.. Unfortunately, there are no local body shops that I would trust anyway.. I'm considering TRE's 8.89.130 bumper.. TIA for any help, guidance, suggestions etc. anyone could provide..

I think that TRE is going to be your best bet in terms of best fitment out of the box. That is probably the foremost issue I would be concerned with.

I've had one from BW motorsports on for about 8 years and it has been solid. The version i have has tabs at the front lower edge to utilize the stock mounting arms to attach the lower part of the bumper to the body. Screws with speed nuts hold the top edge of bumper to the body. I didnt use any weatherstripping for rear.

Does it mount on top of the existing bumper/fairing or do you have to remove the original?
