SC spacer/adapter issues

Following much research and measuring I purchased some 5/8" hub centric adapters. Guidance was don't go too wide so I settled on this conservative width. 7" fuchs all around so the fronts are fine for me

First issue is the wheel will not sit flush with the adapters. Factory lug studs, protruding past the adapter, are barely hitting the inside of the wheel. I can see exactly where this is happening from the marks on the inside of the wheel. A simple solutions could be to use a drill press and drill some small reliefs in the existing ring that runs around the inside of the wheel but I'm sure this is a structural element and I'm leery of any modification that compromises strength. The alternative is cutting the studs back a small amount but that too concerns me as removing a little material is often more difficult that making a larger cut. I'm familiar with using a disposable steel lug nut to act as the guide for the cut

Second issue is the closed aluminum lug nuts I'd like to reuse for that stock look. Rough measurements show 5/16" of thread left with the lug nut fully screwed in. Wheel thickness at the mounting is in the 5/16-3/8" range so it appears these lug studs need a little shortening too. Or use the open steel lugs

Maybe I just need to get over my concerns about shortening the studs, practice a bit and get on with it. Any and all guidance appreciated and I've become addicted to this site. Thanks ahead
