Dash console forward date in a pre 73...Possible?

Looking for some advice or any resources that can help with my train of thought on if this is a possibility.

I've got kind of an over the top hotrod in the works. Its all based on a 70 911T chassis. I never really planned on adding A/C but as I keep thinking about the heat in Texas it sure would be a nice addition. I absolutely HATE the way under dash A/C vents look so I'm wondering how feasible it would be to acquire and install the the sheet metal necessary from an 86+ Carrera in a 70tub.

I know this is probably a huge job but its the cleanest direction I can think of to have a somewhat OEM vent setup in the car. I can still backdate the fascia etc to make it look period to the era build I'm going with.

I'm thinking about using the kit from Classic retrofit for the actual AC bits.

Electric Air Conditioning - Classic Retrofit

Anybody done this? I have been searching all over the place and just cant seem to find anything. And before I get called out for butchering a 70 chassis its waaaay past ever being brought back to original.

Sure; just weld in the top of a big-vent dash core.

Just that easy? =)

I guess I'm looking for any threads or links where someone may have done this. Trying to get ahead of any gotchas or pitfalls. I haven't been able to find anything with the searches I've done.

I might've posted about it in Teo's 3.9L Carrera Reborn thread... can't recall of the top of my head, but worth a look.

That was a 74 that got a big vent Carrera dash core for A/C.

Wow, very cool build. I just went through it all. Looks like you guys just did the upper portion. I'm looking to do the upper and lower vents to get more air into the cockpit.

Lower vents can be grafted in to existing dash, IIRC.
