Sounds like we've got another Bay Area gathering brewing...

Do you guys autocross at all? The last PCA-GGR autocross event is going to be November 9th in the paddock of Sears Point on November 9th. I'm designing the course. You guys should come!

Dan - you can certainly take my car with the Wevo shifter and coupler for a spin, if you'd like. I just got the transmission rebuilt this week, so it will be "cheating" a bit since the brand new tranny does add to the extra solid feeling.

I was going to put the Wevo gate shift in, as well, but Hayden was out of them currently. They've developed a tool that let's you install the gate shift with the transmission in the car, now, so no need to wait for a rebuild. I'm sure the gate shift is compatible with all short shift kits, because the short shift only affects the throw of the shift lever. The internals of the transmission (where the gates "live") all still move the same distance and in the same pattern. I helped (or should say "watched") rebuild my transmission, so I'm feeling flush with a lot of new tranny knowledge! :)

Thanks Yogi ;), that would be great! I'm planning on going to the Sears Point autocross. You'll know me by the crunch when I shift into second. Oh, wait, that hardly narrowed it down at all...

See everybody there, right?

Dan :)

A word of cautuion here. I and two, experienced, full time Porsche mechanics spent 5 hours trying to add the gate sysytem while the car was on a hoist.

I was told it was a two hour job by an experinced hand. Turns out at the moment, only Jerry Wood's shop has installed a total of 4 gates while the transmission was in the car.

While I'll not doubt that it can be done, I suspect Jerry Wood's has installed dozens of the gates while the transmissions were out of the car which would make an immense difference trying to sqeeze it in the inspection gate fom below.

Just my 2 cents but do it while the tranny is out. Because afterwards is damn near impossible even with Hayden's help on the phone. The current installation directions are for the transmission while it is out of the car.

I seldom give up on projects but on this one I threw in the wrench. I'll add it to the tranny when i pull the engine next month.

Nice to see this revived. Who's going to the Alameda GGR autocross tomorrow? I've now got the Wevo gate in, too...

Look me up if any of you are there - white cab #908 and 806 (wife and me).

Cheers,

Dean

i believe the gsx motor is a 4 cylinder turbo 190 hp stock. i would assume he's increased the boost and is getting considerable more hp. the things blow up right and left but they are fast as heck.
