Clutch slip 1975 911s

I have a 1975 911s I am sorting out after it's been sitting for a number of years. The clutch is slipping between 3k & 5k RPMs. Can this be addressed by adjusting the clutch cable underneath the car, as per the Pelican article? Or don't even bother, time for a new clutch.

New clutch, no questions!

Any idea how many miles are on that clutch? Any other noticeable symptoms besides the slippage?
Does sound like it may be time for a new one. So, if it's time I'm sure our clutch article will be of use to you. Good luck!

I would start with a full re-adjust of the cable. slacken off and start from scratch and then test drive.

As I recall you should have about 25 mm (one inch) of clutch free play. Pull the clutch all the way back with your hand, then press it forward until the free play stops. How much? If you don't have any free play, you need a clutch adjustment. If you have proper free play, it is time to pull the engine and have a look to determine the cause of the slippage.

There's always a chance the clutch has been oiled by a leaking crank seal or tranny seal. If you take 'er apart to do a new clutch, check for those, or you'll risk ruining the new disk too ...

+1 on probable oil contamination. A car that has sat for a number of years most likely has some sealing issues.
