Porsche Crest oops

Oops,

I'll try this again. I need feed back from 69-73 911 owners. Are you fed up with pulling the driver's door closed by grabing the window frame to close the door?
I have a right hand drive passenger door arm rest with pull handle, it is the mirror image of what is on the right door of a left hand drive car. It makes is much much easier to pull the door closed.
I have had it on my car since 84 when it was rebuilt and I love it.
Back then I had to wait 4 months to get and was told at that time there were NO MORE. And even though I work for a Porsche dealer, my cost was $334.00 back then. Since then I have tried several time to reorder and no luck. Several people who have seen it on my car said they would love to have one.
Now to the point. I'm thinking of getting some made if the demand is there. At this point I don't know what the cost will be yet, that depends on how many I get made. Please let me know what you think. Looking forward to your feedback.

All the best!

great idea. i think it was deleted so the driver's arm/hand, wouldn't interface with it, but i still always wanted one on my early cars. after using one, was it in your way at any time? how about making a right hand S/S mirror while you're at it.

They were only about $120 in January '78 when I special ordered one for my car ... first change I made to my car after having read of them in a magazine article about Greg Aaronson's custom 911 ... Greg is the 'A' in F.A.T. ... a VW enthusiast shop in LA ...

I have known Greg Aaronson for over 25 years. We were in Der Kleiner Panzers Volkswagen Club way back when.
I don't know the cost yet, that will depend on how many I have made. That's why I'm wanting feed back, to see if it would be worth doing. I don't need one myself, already got one.

All the best!

I have a set of handles for a 75...will sell them for $50 + shipping.
I don't have the door pockets though...they sold already.
I can post a pic of them later...or you can see them on my cardomain site (link below) as they were on the car in the pics.
PM me if interested.

Smile arm rest picture

Hello all,

I will try to post a picture, I'm still not very digital and internet savy so it may take a bit. The arm rest is an exact mirror image of what is on the passenger door of any stock 69-73 left hand drive 911 and 912. The design was changed on 74 and later cars and is very different than 69-73. Hope this helps.

All the best!

Roger, Shame on me for asking for a picture. I just looked at the passenger door for something other than to wipe Vinylex on it.

Really is a great idea. And based on the condition of mine, I might buy a new one for both sides, if you go that route and if the price is right.

As a point of curiosity, to what does the top of the handle attach? I have taken the drivers side door apart many times but never the passenger side.

I'm in Australia, with an original LHD car changed over to RHD.

Thus I have the grab handle on the "driver's" side (the old passenger side) and the armrest with no grab handle on what is now the passenger side.

The grab handle has never been in the way when driving, but I too would like the grab handle for the passengers who get confused when trying to close their door.

Smile handle attachment

Hal,

It attaches just like the one on the passenger door, nut plates are already welded on the top of the inside door shell. The only additional hardware needed are 2 6mm short allen bolts with 2 washers. Hope this helps.

All the best!

Ditto tryan's remarks. I currently pull on the forward pocket to close the door.

Another thought...

Re-created door pockets would also be a good idea, at the same time.

Roger, did you ever make any progress on having these remanufactured? I've seen them as "unavailable" on Sierra Madre for a few years and I've inquired with a few Porsche dismantlers in RHD markets to see if I can find a decent one used... but no luck. I came across this post and thought I'd ask.
