Can anyone identify this minilite style wheel?
Hi All -
Stumbled on this picture but cant find out any info on these wheels. Does anyone recognize them? Really like the look. Thanks - Scott S http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1499896693.jpg |
They look like BBS style 19 rims - a bit difficult to tell 100% from the angle.
|
Watanabe Racing...very nice, lightweight wheels from Japan.
I have them on my '72 "Estee"-tribute... |
Not BBS....more likely Watanabe Racing as docdan suggests

Try this the do custom bolt pattern on the RS watanabe style wheels. However, offsets might be different unless you go wide. Cost about $600/wheel

I don't think they are Wats, the lips don't look right, not smooth enough. More like Rota RKR, I think.
|
Superlites, from Australia.
|
I was thinking Rota as well - but they don't do the 5x130. I looked at Superlite, but don't see anything larger than a 15, and the spokes are different.
Hmmmmm... Really like these. I just sent an inquiry to Watanabe. We'll see. Thanks! |
These are too big for a 911, but I think in a 17 (or 16) they would be sweet. Haven't found out too much on them - I believe these are 18 x 12 to fit a Mustang. Made in Australia by Wayne Grady the only info I have.

Try atara racing. I know rwb used atara racing (watanabe style) on their builds

Here you go - they are Watanabe-r-type.
If they are 16's with that tire, that car must be really low. I would like a more traditional side wall height, so will need to do some research on the offsets. Hi All,
Following up on this thread as considering using the Watanabe rims on a SC slightly below Euro height with 245/45 and 225/45 16s. I am concerned with the low offset, potential fender protrusion and fender to top of tire clearance: Watanabe Rear Wheel Spec: 16x8.5 et negative 6 Using Bill V's formula (Rim Width*25.4)/2 -ET: The hub to outer rim distance is 113.95 mm For Comparison: Recommended 9" ET +15 measures 99.3 mm The Watanabe rim will be outbound approx 15mm from recommended 9" fitment 8" Front Wheel will be 23-25mm outbound from recommended (ET 0 vs +25) Ride height and (reasonable) negative camber can help mitigate. Has anyone tried to use these wheels or opinions from the wheel experts? |
Anyone know the estimated weights?
|
Weights:
7.8 KG (R) 7.5 KG (F) |
I researched the R Types for my 89 3.2...both through Motive Japan and even emailed with the factory in Japan. They'll do custom bolt patterns but R Types are only available in 1 offset in each size, which wouldn't fit a NB car. You need turbo flares, or a turbo, to run these. I can't remember the users name, but someone in Australia had them on a Carrera with turbo flares and they looked fantastic....although he sold them on the forum here a few months back.
I ended up having a set of Rotiform MLW's built with sizes/offsets that Bill V. recommended. Super happy with the rears, but wish the fronts had some lip like the R Types. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1549758312.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1549758312.jpg |
Thanks Billy - the car looks great.
Did you go 8 & 8.5 in 16"? |
Thanks tx996tt....they're 17". Fronts are 8" and rears are 9.5".

Need a set up track wheels and these look perfect. Just need to be sure they can clear Turbo brakes on a SC. Thanks! Dan |
