After market door speakers with stock 3.2 Carrera speaker grilles?

Has anyone used aftermarket speakers with the stock 3.2 Carrera grilles?

The PO of my car put Alpine SPS-500s 5.25" speakers in the doors without the factory grilles and they look just a bit too alien for my tastes (picture attached). They also added a modern, touchscreen radio as well that'll be replaced shortly (but that's another subject -either one of the modern Continentals or replace the original Reno).

For the door speakers, I'm wondering if it would be possible to purchase a set of OEM square grilles from Pelican (picture also attached) and use those over the Alpines instead of the grotesque, cheap looking grilles that are on the speakers now. It would be great to have them look original. Barring that, perhaps a universal 5.25 speaker grille that is a little less obtrusive looking could be used instead?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Speakers.

I bought some Infinity 4".

Perfect fit with the factory grilles.

It seems many of the speakers being sold today come with rather cheesy futuristic grills that seem very inappropriate in a 911. If the factory grills would fit and cover the area on the door card where the current speaker grills are in position, that would be the best solution. I ended up getting some 6" speakers with plain grills to replace the cheesy ones that the PO had installed on my Targa.

Great. Thanks for the suggestions gentlemen.

Has anyone else managed to replace their door speakers and keep them looking stock?

Thanks!

Besides the cheese grills, many current tech speakers have thick surrounds and protruding tweeters that will not fit under the stock grill. At the very least, as you shop for speakers, you have to get those that have a tweeter that is below the flush-surface line, then be sure it is still relatively flat to the door panel at the mounting holes. The version I purchased (been a while so I don't remember where) had to be modified as there was a thick spacer around the mounting ring (glued-on). I just removed them and, as the tweeter was still below the mounting surface, was able to use the stock grill. I will try to take a photo tonight. They sound way better than stock, but I also have a remote amp with more power...
