Door handle lock barrel

After taking my car out for a long drive in the sun, doesn't happen often in Scotland, I went to lock my car up and the lock rotates 360degrees???? Rather than the 90 degrees to lock or unlock.
Before I disassemble the door could it be something simple or has a part probably broken off?
I have shook the door to see if there was anything lying at the bottom and ran a magnet along it to see if it attracts any debris.

Your problem is most likely that the little screw came out which hold the finger in place to the tumbler..this one
The best is to take the door panel off look for the crew- it could be still in place- or on the bottom of your door.

^^^^ Proporsche is most likely correct. It's not a major job to fix something like that. Do some "while you're in there" checking and lubricating while you're at it. It's an opportunity to clean the mechanisms & lube everything.
