Power wash inside bell housing?

Is it safe to power wash the inside of a bell housing? I have a very gooey buildup which I suspect has come through the main output shaft seal-if so, the seal is not doing a good job and could let wash water through. I could wrap duct tape around the tube and shaft to seal them off. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Yes, tape it off and go to town but be conscious of the tube in anycase and clutch fork shaft as you do not want to rust inside, compress air dry asap.

you can pressure wash just about anything if you're cognizant not to direct the pressure stream at seals like on a tranny the input shaft, the axle outputs and the shift rod and I taped my breather up real well.

I did the motor compartment when my motor was out being very careful around hub areas on the trailing arms as to not push water into the wheel bearing.
