I find that I can't sit at the computer to do do anything without at least once checking the bbs, new posts, great opinions and a world of answers to questions , some of which are thoughts I have pondered many times. Anyone else here with this problem? Maybe its not a problem, but then thats what the alkys say " I don't have a problem" Jerry 911 SC targa

Perhaps we need some group therapy sessions? Oh, maybe that's what we're doing when we log on. Just gearheads, shooting the s**t. Sure works for me.

If I had to go a day w/out this, I'd be one cranky SOB. I was a real tech hold-out, finally bought my first computer in 2001. Got a nice one for pretty cheap- Sony Vaio w/ lots of power and extras- basically use it for e-mail and this BBS. Little bit of web-surfing.
I've been telling friends that I'm addicted to an internet BB and they are amused but don't understand,(especially non-car people). I'm tellin' ya, it's a community for sure. |

Well, when you sit back and realize just how much money you've saved with reading the BBS, it kinda comes into perspective.
My computer-phobic friend Carston even reads it now after I posted about his 915 slushbox which Braniac correctly diagnosed with a loose shift gate on the first try. Saved him a $1000 tranny rebuild. It's pretty cool for friends too - unless you ask KK.... ------------------ Mark Szabo 1986 911 Targa 3.2 1987 Escort 5-speed 1.9 RIP The Porsche Owners Gallery |

AMEN to that!
I check this board first thing I do when I get into the office each morning, and reload at least 10 times each day. Have learned a LOT from it, and it really, really has helped me in my project. AND - it IS a nice place to go to to forget all the current troubles in the world.. ------------------ 1972 911S Targa (with 1982 3.0L drivetrain) ************************ My project! |

I figure when I'm not driving my Porsche, I can still enjoy it by reading & chatting about it on this bbs with others who share the same passion. I've tried the Harley boards, but all they talk about is beer & sex. Don't get me wrong, I like beer and sex, but there's more to life. This board is definitely a "community" besides a great source of information. I don't know if Wayne and the gang ever imagined it would become this good. And frankly, as a business consultant to companies having to make the shift from traditional sales to the internet world, I think that Pellican's model is a great example of how to gain customer loyalty. I check this board first thing in the morning, and somtimes in the evening.

what will break the addiction for some? maybe the new policy at rennlist where you now have to pay 17.95 a month to be a member and if you don't pay you can still go there but you are called a "user"

This is a good post! I am at my desk all day pretty much every day and so this is on directly in my line of sight EVERY DAY. I can't help but hit reload or refresh everytime I reach for phone/coffee/gum whatever. It is terribly addicting and my swb car has limited posts that are applicable to it!
One thing I have noticed in my 2 years as a junkie here is that when winter rolls around I try not to visit so much because it is depressing not being able to run out and check out the car! I also noticed that the 914 board slows down a touch in the winter too and this one keeps rolling along. weird. |

An addiction or obsession? Well, I just spent my break out front looking at my baby and now I'm back on here...I can quit...until lunch.

I'm an addict too. I guess the combination of good company and Porsches always make me come back here.
