Relay ID & Location
I have an '89 911 Carrera that I have been sorting out.
The relay panel behind the fuel gauge has sockets for 4 relays. I'm not sure that the Bentley book (Illustration 971-13) is correct. I have relays in position 1 & 2 which are supposed to be Power Windows & Warning Chime respectively. When I looked at the part numbers of the relays installed the Power Window relay was in position 2 (not 1 according to the Bentley book). There are also a couple of other relays behind it which I think is the Alarm Relay and some other one. So . . . . Does anyone have an accurate diagram showing the location/function of those relays and hopefully the correct part number(s). I can be either PM'd or email at ap997s@gmail.com Thanks in advance for any help. |

Hello - not sure if this would be helpful, but take a look at the link below to various electrical diagrams from our site's DIY tech article section. Best of luck!

Anybody have an 1989 Factory 911 Carrera Manual that they can copy the relay location or schematic page and post or send it to me?

Thanks to all that responded. For some strange reason my power control relay is in the left most position in the relay connector panel behind the fuel gauge.
In any event I resolved the problem. There's a connector located between the driver door and inside fender panel which wasn't seating good. I believe it connects to the relay and ground connections. It's in a real pesky place to reach. You need tiny hands to reach it. I was able to disconnect it to check & clean the contacts. I then used a long screw driver (taped to the connector) to get it back into the socket. Applied some pressure to make sure it was seated good. The windows (driver & passenger) now work. In this car's previous life it suffered some left side fender damage and I suspect the fender was removed and the connector was never seated well. In time it worked it's way loose and became intermittent. I'll work the relay location issue in the future. |
