I installed a rear window wiper on my 87 3.2 Carrera.
I switch it on and it works great. BUT when I switch it off, the arm does not return to its original start position. Any suggestions |

There is a tread around here re. the brushes on the motor. That could be your problem. I think one set drives the motor during continious running and the other set is activated to park the arm.
Both brushes need to be pressed on the commutator. You can see my solution to installing a new spring - careful that you add an insulator - the brush arms need to be isolated from each other. If you have time just pull the whole thing off the car and apart and take the can off carefully - remember the location of the small hole in the can. Post picture(s) here.

By off the car I mean with wires attached, lowered and placed on a towel to the left of the fan. Then you can activate it from the cockpit and confirm the operation and stopping location so you can get the arm placed correctly. I put two vise grips on the bracket to hold it up in the air so the rotating arm didn't wrap in the towel during testing.
