Seat Belt / Racing Harness
I just purchased a set of BF Torino Rally ST seats for my 83 911 and plan on going with a new set of seat belts / racing harness' with the new seats.
Any recommendations? |

Why harnesses? Probably not the best idea for the street.
If the seat has a slot or provision for a sub belt and you have a way to correctly mount the harness behind the seat, you could safely use harnesses on the track in your car.

+1 to all of the above. Stick with seat belts in street car. If it suits your taste, you could change the seat belt colors. The PO of my car had the belts match the exterior. My car is orange.

IIRC Schroth makes a streetable harness. Instead of using a reel, there's an extra flap of material to provide some give.

+1 to what most people have said, they can be a pain in a road car but it's your choice
![]() If you do go for them then a 5 or 6 point 3 inch wide are the most comfortable. |

As cool as harnesses are, they aren't suitable for the street (with the exception of that particular Schroth model).
With a street belt, if the roof collapses, you can lay over. With a harness, your head is the "roll bar". With a street belt, if you crash into something, your torso and your head travel forward together. With a harness, you body is locked in place - but your head keeps going forward. You get the idea...

Thanks for the feedback. Part of the reason for wanting a new set of seatbelts is of course because I am getting a set of BF Torino Rally ST seats in the car. Another reason is that the stock seat belt in my 83 SC is a mess. It is easily twisted and does not really go back into the receiver very well. Not sure if this is a common problem for others. Maybe I just need to fix/replace my current stock set up.
What is the exact model # or name of the street seatbelt from Schroth? |

Not sure if this matters, but if you ever track the car many organizations restrict the use of 4 point harnesses.

Take a look at the options from seatbelt planet. Easy way to replace your stock belts, they even offer custom colors.
