Steve Wong vs. Sal's?

Does anyone have experience comparing the two?

Do they both increase HP?

I've read through a few threads on both and a search did not turn up and comparisons.

It seems like both products have happy customers.

And if you want to get serious (supercharger, turbocharging, wild cams, ITB's etc) and also want to get rid of AFM then one could consider VEMS Plug and Play for Porsches (911 3.2, 964, 993), works with stock sensors (plugs right into factory DME connector), has everything needed to get the car running including wideband and good tune.

Probably not going down those routes anytime soon. Mainly interested in finding out which chip/service is overall the best. I plan on running the Rarely L8 headers with a 2in-2out MK muff.

I am planning to convert the stock AFM to the MAF. Would VEMS work with any of the MAF conversions ?
Is VEMS easy to map kind of an ECU or needs professional mapper ? Does it come with some maps ?

By the way, I am looking for a DIY install MAF kit but could not locate one yet.

If I am not wrong, SAL had a non-DIY kit, do you know how can I reach him ?

Sal's is a DIY install, but you will have to be able to run through your systems to validate all sorts of criteria (fuel pressure ok, no air leaks etc, etc). You can probably PM him here under scarceller .

Thank you very much.
As a matter of fact, I dropped him a PM few days ago here but no reply yet.
I kind of remember that SAL's was not a DIY at the beginning but it may be now.
I guess, " running through the system " means being able to read ( or check ) the parameters via the DME or the conventional way.

You might want to check with Sal. I don't think he's doing a chip only anymore. He's not out to compete with SteveW but rather make unique solutions others don't offer. He has a nice chip and injector set and I think he offers a chip, injector, MAF kit for your car. Sal is a fantastic guy. Be ready to answer A LOT of questions about your car. He has a nice checklist that he insists on being completed prior to adding any of his setups.

We install and tune Sal's kits. They are complete systems that require a lot of knowledge and tuning. Results are nothing short of phenomenal considering the stock heat exchangers are still in place. Great guy to work with.

Steve Wong has a chip for our tuned headers /dual out muffler combo as well as one for our premuffler / single inlet muffler combo.

VEMS uses built-in MAP, no MAF though if you want to use MAF then you can (it supports MAF also).
VEMS is actually one of the easiest ECU's to tune, you can download VemsTune here, load some default config and browse through features, menus etc: http://vems.hu/download/v3gui/NIGHTLY/VemsTune-Install-2017-03-22.exe

It comes with fully running MAP, no need to spend hours or days to figure out settings etc, you can drive it.
Here's video of my VEMS kit running a 3.2 Carrera with supercharger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB58BwQYU2g

Many thanks for the information. I already am a customer of MK exhausts.
Regarding the Sal's kit ( which I have to read more about ) as I am in Europe it has to be a DIY installation for me. I dropped a PM to him but didn't get a reply yet.

Many thanks for the information about the VEMS ECUs. It is certainly interesting. I have seen your Face page as well and I will enquire.
However, as you also mention I may like to have the MAF conversion first the either use the stock DME or go to ECU way.
You say that ECU comes with a running map. Do you mean, you have various maps for the typical stock 3.2 Carrrera engine for different fuels or even for different modification levels ? ( I am asking this question with the knowledge of "proper ECU maping has to be done on the rolling road by a professional mapper" )

You do not need MAF at all, I was just mentioning that VEMS supports it if someone wants to use it.
There is no need for anything else other than factory wiring harness and sensors (excluding AFM and throttle sensor) and everything needed is included in the kit.

ECU comes with a map that runs your car and you just need to drive around while autotune is running and it will adjust the fuel table according to your engine. Here's tutorial in Youtube how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7fyfhY_FhI&t=13s

Point is that I have already worked out proper settings for 3.2 and spent many hours for warmup etc, adjusting fuel table is the easiest part of tuning

I now understood. I will get in touch with you soon.
