Has anyone tried the Scart 100-cell cat pipe?

I was originally going to do a test pipe. I currently have a Monty muffler but want something with more decibels. I don't want to go through the costly process of SSIs and my state has emissions testing every couple of years and don't want to have to swap that annoying piece every couple of years.

Scart's site says the cat pipe will increase sound and should also pass emissions.

I'm 90% certain I'm going to order it anyway so if nobody has, I'll be the first to report back.

Also, I'm going to order the obvious gaskets. Is it smart to order a new oxygen sensor as well?

Can't speak to the product, but I recently installed a SCART system in place of the original exhaust. The o2 sensor was baked into the old pre-muffler and disintegrated upon my trying to remove. Probably not a bad idea to take a peek. I'm running without one right now but plan to add in future.

I'm assuming you bought their muffler? How do you like it thus far?

I appreciate the input.

I see Pelican sells a Fabspeed "sport race" cat converter.
Porsche 911 (1974-1989) - Performance Exhaust Upgrades - Page 3

I have a Fabspeed "Carrera 911 Sport" 300 cell cat. I'm happy with it. Fit and finish was good. I'm using it on my 3.4 twin plug. It looks different from the one pictured on Pelican but I don't see that Fabspeed offers anything but this version.

A note on fit: since the distance between the input and output flanges is so long, the input flange angle only needs to be off just a little to make a huge difference in the position of the other end. The Fabspeed was spot on.

Good to know as I am reconsidering the Fabspeed unit, especially since they're local to me.

Do you have emissions testing out there? Any issues? Also, I'd love to see details on your 3.4 build!

Wow $850?

My car came with a bypass pipe installed, but I required for my SCCA class minimum 100cpi/4" substrate. I cut my bypass pipe and put a Magnaflow 59956 in there. $85. It's 200cpi but 100cpi universal bullet style cats are easy to find in mild steel and stainless for a few more dollars if you need the bling.

I got the super sound riva muffler and cat bypass. high quality parts and quite pleased with the sound. I have a install thread here but never was able to produce a video with representative sound.

I'm considering the Fabspeed Sport Catalytic Converter. I've been splitting between the original equipment cat and a cat-bypass pipe. I like the note and freer flow from the cat-bypass, but not the smell. And my factory cat is old. Does anyone have any experience with how effective the 300 cell Fabspeed cat is versus the factory cat towards cutting the smell?

I don't have a smell with the cat but I dont really recall having any with a gutted cat either. Perhaps there is something else at work here like an overly rich mixture?

Here is a review from a customer for the Fabspeed.

'' Awesome product 5 Star Review

Posted by Jim T on 15th Dec 2015

I bought this CAT to replace a Euro pre-muffler I had installed. I loved the pre-muffler's sound and performance, but I could NOT stand the smell from the exhaust at stop lights. Having a cabriolet made it worse.

This sport cat stopped the smell 100% and the performance is equal to what I had from the pre-muffler from what I can tell. The sound is slightly quieter than the pre-muffler, but I like the tone even more.

The installation of this part was very easy. It fit the car on the manifold side and the muffler side perfectly. I did have to make a couple of the holes in the gasket on the manifold side a little larger to fit the bolts through, but the fit of the pipe itself was spot on.

The build quality on this piece is fantastic and it looks beautiful! I don't know if the chrome will stay chrome, but for now it's quite shiny!

Overall, I couldn't be happier with this product.
awesome sound ... 5 Star Review

It's great , not too loud , gives car a Low deep tone. Very happy with the way it looks and sounds on my 1987 911 .''

As for the Scart, Scart claims a 12 HP increase as tested on a dyno. Fabspeed claims an undisclosed power increase.

A bit of Googling indicated I likely would not pass emissions with the Scart unit. I may consider the Fabspeed as they are only a half hour away from me.

Meanwhile I'm having my Golf tuned tomorrow and should have over 350 horsepower with nothing more than an ECU reflash. Crazy how far cars have come.

There is a stock picture of the Fabspeed, but I think this is the actual unit. It is a good sized and robust looking unit.
