According to Bruce Anderson's book, it says the 901/30 is 67/68 911 Rally engine, with Weber 46 IDS Carbs. 9.8:1, 150 HP.

According to Anderson's book, it is a 67/68 911 rally engine with 46 IDA webers. Further noted...same as a 901/02 which IS a "S" motor.....
The 901/30 shows 150 hp, while the S shows 160.... Looks like the difference is smaller valve and port sizes.... |

That kind of depends on why it doesn't turn over ... the owner isn't exactly being entirely straightforward.

The carbs aren't complete, and 10 or 15 years of exposure to outdoor weather can ruin those zinc castings.

I paid $8,000 for a C2T engine that was locked up! I ended up spending @ 1,000 in parts on it. I came out way ahead because a fresh engine is worth alot more. The question on this one, is if you have to spend as much as $2,000 on it, are you in for way to much, or can you find a good running one for cheaper? You just never know what you'll find inside! I wouldnt pass it up if I need one like that.

Reply from the seller....
"I will try to send more pictures tomorrow. The carbs are Zeniths and are missing some parts. The pictures I will send to you will show everything that is on the engine...." So, if originality is what you are looking for....this is not it. I also asked if it had a dizzy and a harness...no reply on that. Sounds like an interesting door stop to me.... Still at less than $500.00 it could be a great deal. Although the guy seems to have porsche experiance and his description with all due respect kinda sucks. I bet there`s more to the "doesnt turn over" story than he describes.

If you want a further caution, this same guy is selling a set or 'original Dilivar' head studs removed from a 930 motor.

Value is questionable, unless you have a 67 rally car, and need the case for authenticity. Starkey's book shows this engine type was in 3 67S chassis rally cars.
I find that interesting, as the engine doesn't offer the same HP as the 67S... I asked Bruce about this particular case, and he wasn't sure how many of this particular type engine were made, he did verify though that it "only" made 150 hp. Price is getting a little "high" for risking the condition of the parts, particularly with Zeniths. regards, Eric |

My metal recycling bucket is already full and besides, that engine would not fit in it. I use a small jackstand as a door stop and the engine would be too heavy. I guess I don't need a frozen mid-sixties Porsche rally engine with some of the parts missing.
