Auto to manual tranny swap
Hi,
I know this is probably not worth it............but I am looking at a very nice 1991 cab with a tripmatic automatic transmission. Has anyone had any experience or just thoughts on switching it to a 6 speed manual ? The price of the car is very attractive. Why would anyone order, buy a 91 with an auto in the first place !!!! Thanks Tom Cape Cod |

Tom, I think you just answered your own question. Why would you buy a 911 with an automatic?

Apparently ... to make them attractive to potential buyers with the poor resale value!
Is the price 'good' enough when you factor in an $8-10K transmission swap?

Continue looking is what I would do.
There are so many Porsche out there for sale that it does not make any sense to buy a Porsche and swap out the transmission. When it comes time to resell it, because we all know Porsche 911 lasts a long time, few people will want to touch such a hacked up Porsche. Get another one! Or, just drive that Tiptronic as it is. |
