More Engine porn

Just picked up everything from the powder coaters. I Can't wait to see how it all looks once its back on the engine. Still waiting on the cams and heads and then it shouldn't be to long after that.

Wow. That's just going to look REALLY cool. How much for all that coating?

Everything for only $165. I did have the parts blasted and the aluminum parts glass blasted. $75 for all the blasting.

Very nice!
Do you have to check the fan for balance after it's been blasted for powder coating and heated during the powder coating process?
Gary.

Not from what I was told. The glass blasting doesn't take any material off, it just cleans it very well as if you had scrubbed it and then wiped it clean. Plus, they are able to mask off the areas that you don't want coated so that there is no disassembly necessary.

The powder coaters said that they have done several of these fans and are very careful to get an even coat. They said that the biggest part is to sand the edges of the blades to provide clearance for the housing.

Great to hear! Amazing price too. I'm so far from everywhere it even cost me US $20.00 postage just for Wayne's engine rebuild pre-copy. Not to mention duty, a 62cent dollar, etc.,etc.
Oh the joys of living here

EW,

You are correct, these are for backdating the heater system. I took a left side heating duct from an early car and then cut, formed and welded a new piece of metal into place. After that I metal finished it and had it coated. It will now clear the distributor on our SC.

I couldn't decide, our car is gold and black. I thought that if I had it done in gold it would look pretty bad so I just left it alone and cleaned it up really well. If I don't like it I'll just have to take it all apart at a later time and have it done in black. I was also worried about clearance problems.

I always assumed blasting and powder coating was more expensive then that. At those prices it seems really reasonable.

Good luck with the rest of the project and be sure to post a picture once it is all back together.

It's going to look great! Reason I was asking, I just got my fan
and stuff back from the Powder Coater yesterday. I went with
red on fan, gloss black or surround, and other bits, and had
the strap and pulley half polished and clear coated.

I just had all my tin powder coated black too. My fan is also done the same way. My shroud is also black. I have it almost back together now. You will love the way this combo looks. As soon as I rebuild my carbs I'm on the road.
